Boots Aren't Made for Walking Past

This mini haul is nothing too exciting - mainly essentials. I cannot wait for the day when Ian and I are finished college just so I have money to buy proper, almost unnecessary products. I miss the old days of a regular wage.

Today I popped into Boots chemist to pick up a few bits and pieces. I bought

Neutrogena Spot Stress Control Scrub
Neutrogena Oil Free Moisturiser
Blanx Whitening Toothpaste
Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara
Botanics Men's Moisturiser x2 (for Ian)
Botanics Tea Tree Oil (for preventing spiders)
Natural Collections Lipstick
Natural Collections Eyeshadow (Milk Chocolate)

I find it so difficult to walk past the make up and to be honest I rarely end up avoiding it. Natural Collection is never a line I normally gravitate towards but life on a shoe string budget has changed that. I love make-up and I usually spend a lot on it. I don't wear it very often but that doesn't stop me buying it. As a sensible student, my new mantra in life is "to buy cheap versions of make-up that I am not sure will suit me". I have only recently (past 2 years) started getting interested in blush and lipstick. However, I have no idea what colours suit me. Before, I would have just tried out well known brands such as L'oreal, Maybelline, Revlon, MAC and Benefit but now I buy colours in brands such as Natural Collections, Essence and Catrice. If I like them then I will spend that bit more on similar shades in the regular and higher end brands.

I'm actually kind of enjoying the lipstick. The colour is nice and subtle. It is a little bit too pinkish for my liking but I find it to be a good evening lipstick. I generally just wear my lip colour but better lipsticks during the day.

I bought the eyeshadow for the purpose of defining my crease during the day. I use it with MAC's Paint Pot in Painterly and it seems to be working. I usually use Urban Decay's Naked but the glitter from the other shades keep finding their way onto my face when I hold the palette. I don't enjoy the sparkle look at the best of times. So far this has been working well for me. I have similar if not the same colour in my collection already but I think I just wanted to buy something new.

Is there anything from the range you would recommend?

Thanks for reading.
With Love,

Gem xx
