Making the Move

We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths

                                                                                             Walt Disney

I have always been happy in my hometown. I have great friends, some of my family still live there and I take pleasure from my surroundings. Unlike many people, I just didn't have the wanderlust that drives someone to board a plane or set sail on a boat. That said, I do have a list of countries on my wish list to visit but when it comes to day to day life I was more than satisfied to stay in my small city.

Throughout my life, I thought about my future and it looked something like this by the age of thirty-three

- Career
- Married
- House
- Children
- Dog

I guess I never was a big dreamer. From a young age I felt average. I didn't do anything remarkable as a child, I blended into the background at school, I felt lost at university and felt a lack of confidence in my abilities. Deep down though I believe there is something special or exciting I will do during my life. I am just not sure what it is yet. I try or at least I like to believe I try new things constantly, all the time hoping that something will just fall into place.

Okay, so this post is a little bit all over the place but basically what I am trying to express to you is

1. My life is not what I pictured it would be by this age - I have one of the five goals mentioned above.

2. I can keep going about my everyday life, doing the same things, seeing the same people, eating the same foods, working the same minimum wage jobs, complaining about my shortcomings

3. OR I can take a deep breath, step out of my comfort zone and do something that scares the living daylight out of me..........

So guys, here is my news

I have gotten a new job and moved to Munich, Germany.

I hope that you will come back to visit my blog as I document my feelings, fears, the positives and negatives, my excitement, my attempt at learning a new language and immersing myself into a new culture as I embark on this Bavarian adventure (with Ian!!)

Any advice or stories either about life in Munich or travelling or relocating to another city/country, feel free to send me a message.

In the meantime,
 Thanks again for stopping by,

With Love,

Gem xx
